Dan, are you running Linux or Windows & have you used SVN before? Luke.

Hi Christophe, yes, it is implemented in english.php. Since you are effectively 'booking' an aircraft _or_ a room it works well to do it this way. It is one of the changes in the modified english.php file I sent to you :-) Regards, Luke.

Yes I see them there Joel, thank you :-) However perhaps it would be good to add a 'delete' option in the table as well as 'reactivate'. Otherwise I guess over time you could end up with quite a few users in that list who will never be reactivated for some reason. Obviously one can do it directly to the MySQL database but it would be easier to include it on the Deactivate page methinks. Rega

At Christophe's suggestion I have put this up here so that the answer will be visible to all :-) I noticed that if one deleted a user it didn't seem to be deleted from the database because a later attempt to re-create the user said they were already there (but they weren't actually displayed). I didn't spend any time on it but hopefully the answer is simple! Luke.

I have two or three suggestions that others may be interested in commenting on. Some of them I've already implemented locally to good effect but I think would be a good thing for others too :-) When flights are closed and/or cancelled, show them ‘greyed out’ or with line through them until otherwise cleared or another booking made over them. Once flights are removed they are gone completely

Some of them I've already implemented locally to good effect but I think would be a good thing for others too :-) Aircraft type should include the facility to have a static room and/or ability to _not_ have maintenance function up on screen if not using it. In this way a clubhouse room and instructor may be booked a

Hiall, I think I need to clarify my original comments to Christophe :-) When you are searching a dataset (such as users) it is generally easier to use last_name+first_name and this should be the default, perhaps with an option to search in reverse order in case you can't remember a persons last name (especially in a large club). However when displaying a booking - such as in the popup on th

Hi Christophe, absolutely happy to put up the process on the wiki! Also I've been making some modifications to the PHP code etc, I'll email you directly regarding these things :-) Luke.

Hi Stephane, thanks for the info, I was going to try it with 2006 but I could only find one of my install disks :-( Given time I'll try again with 2008.1 Spring on another machine (or a virtual machine) just in case it disagreed with this particular hardware for some reason. I hope to try the Ubuntu install on the original machine today so perhaps that will tell me something! I will report b

Christophe, thanks for the reply - I agree that it should be straightforward, I was very surprised to find so much trouble. I have used Mandrake/Mandriva for nearly 10 years now so am reasonably familiar with it but it just didn't seem to work for me this time for some reason. I am interested to hear you're using it - what version I wonder? Anyway tonight I tried with Ubuntu server 8.04 and it

Last week I thought I'd do some work and install OF on a Linux machine & write a small howto for anyone else that wanted to do the same. I see a few queries on local installation so figured it might be useful. Unfortunately, some forty hours later, I am still unable to write the howto - I'd thought that I would use Mandriva since it's also a French distribution & it would be nice to hav

Ah, yes, thank you Christophe. I think I was fooled by the menu structure! I was looking for the 'add a user' or 'add a plane' subset of the main menu drop-down box. It wasn't immediately apparent to me to click on the superset of the functions - perhaps it would be a good idea to make these functions a subset (i.e. Admin -> Users -> Users List -> Add User). Actually even better: Ad

Hmmm, well it seems I'm not very bright! Perhaps it's because it is very early in the morning here but while I seem to be able to add an aircraft type ok (eg C-172) I don't seem to be able to add an aircraft of that type per se. I did this ok in v 1.3 but seemingly 2.0 must be different somehow. Likewise I don't seem to be able to add instructors... I've made some use of Babelfish but no-o

Ok, thanks Christophe, I got it that time and confirmed it :-) From a brief check it seems my local version is working ok so it must be something I'm not doing right! I'll do some study & see if I can work it out first before I ask... Regards, Luke.

Christophe, my apologies for taking a while to reply but I've had to find another machine and go through the installation process again... .. the good news is that I've been able to achieve a (more or less) working version of 2.0beta :-)! It's worth mentioning that, using WAMP, I had to specifically enable PHP_XSL in the php.ini file to get things working. Also I needed to do the OF2 install

Hmmm, mine was set to 30 (seconds), I changed it, and a few other timer settings by a factor of ten (eg. so max_execution_time now = 300) but to no avail, it still does the same thing. In case it was a MySQL problem (I assume it's doing something with the database at this point) I had a brief look there but couldn't see any settings that would affect that - unless you're aware of any Christophe?

Christophe, no there was nothing else, I will run the installation again just to check - I assume it won't make anything worse! :-) This is the first piece of info: Following tables used by OpenFlyers have been found in the database: account, account_aircraft, account_club, account_entry, account_member, account_member_type, aircraft, aircraft_qualif, aircraft_type, aircraft_type_qualif, authe

Christophe, thanks for the reply... I did have a working 1.3 when I ran the v2 installation script - I'm assuming the list I posted says that worked ok?! Now what I have done is install 2.0 in a separate directory under the Apache root so as to maintain the existing - working - 1.3. I then copy the v1.3 connect.php file to the 2.0 directory, and modify the config.php to show the correct pea

Stephane, bonjour & thank you - I discovered that in fact there were some missing pear packages according to the list! However after downloading and installing them unfortunately it has made no difference, most odd I get no error messages (before or after installing the additional packages). Incidentaly I discovered the package name http://pear.php.net/package/HTML_Templace_IT on the o

Ok, I'll make this the last message for a while! I had a look at the source pages I was getting in 1.3 & 2, and fiddled a bit with the index.php & init.php files. It seems that there's quite a bit of authentication stuff in the v1.3 index.php that isn't present at all in v2's. Possibly irrelevant insofar as I guess it's done a different way but I can't see how (I said I wasn't a program

Bernie & Christophe, sorry I can't help specifically but I thought I'd mention that I've been following this thread with interest... I tried to install v2 here, both separately & as an upgrade to a working 1.3 version but was unable to get it to operate. I'm aware it's work in progress & was happy to deal with that via cvs/svn so I could perhaps contribute with some doc writing but

Hi Cristophe, thanks for the info, I'd thought there was an upgrade path somehow but looks like I misunderstood. Since I do a lot of my computer work away from the 'net the online version won't work for me so I need to get it onto my machine. I had a look at SVN but from what I could see it (obviously) needs subversion which - I think - is Linux only? At least it appeared that way but I'll look

Hi Christophe, actually it's the 1.31 release I've been working with! I'm keen to try 2.0 but it for some reason couldn't get 1.31 to upgrade (which I understand is the correct path?). I wonder if you have a URL to simply d/load the beta complete - I couldn't seem to find one? I'd be very happy to contribute to the wiki - my french is very poor but I think with some time to figure it out, an

Christophe, thanks for the info re the NZ Club, I suspect they're not too far away from me then :-) I was just coming here to report on my findings from the brief time I had to work on things over the weekend. It turns out that it simply didn't like the PEAR date version I'd d/loaded (Date.php,v 1.89) and when I replaced that with the version from your pear pool it performed as expected. So

Christophe, I spent some time today attempting to resolve the error. After a time I found it would go through the entire script ok until it got the very end after which it would crash again. In the time-honoured tradition of MS Windows I thought I'd try a fresh install on another machine (effectively the same as re-loading windows :-), this time it worked! So I'm still not sure at this stage wh
